SlimFitNut vs Noom: Which Is Better for Women?

Two things are true at once. Noom is cheaper than most articles comparing it will tell you, and it still does not hand you a meal plan. Almost everything worth knowing about this choice follows from those two.
Quick Answer

If the missing piece is being told what to eat, SlimFitNut is the better buy: a nutritionist builds the plan around your body and goals, and you pay once. If the missing piece is momentum, Noom is the better buy, because a daily lesson and a community are things a document cannot be. Noom Weight lists $70 for one month and $209 for 12 months, while SlimFitNut's US prices are $49 for two weeks, $83 for four weeks, $119 for Premium and $534 for VIP plus Coaching. The expensive mistake is buying one while wanting the other.

Most comparisons of Noom were written by somebody with a stake in the answer. This one included.

This comparison is published by Slim Fit Nutrition, and SlimFitNut is one of the two services in it. That means I have a commercial interest in the outcome, so I am going to be specific about where Noom is stronger and where my own standard plans stop. If you already pay for Noom and it keeps you consistent, there is no reason for me to pretend that value is not real. Every Noom figure below was read on Noom's own pages in August 2026. Noom wins three rows of the table.

01

What each program actually is

SlimFitNut

SlimFitNut is a meal planning service run by certified nutritionists. You fill in a questionnaire and a nutritionist builds the plan from it: meals, portions, a shopping list, and a calorie and protein structure set for you rather than an average woman of your height. Nothing to install, nothing to log.

There are four products rather than one, and what separates them is contact, not the food. Every tier starts from the same questionnaire: goals, food preferences, allergies, lifestyle and body data. The 2-week plan is $49 and the 4-week plan is $83, and neither includes contact after the plan lands in your inbox. Premium is $119 and adds one plan adjustment after two weeks plus one week of WhatsApp support. VIP plus Coaching is $534 and runs four weeks, with coaching calls in week one and week three. Prices are USD, shown in your currency at checkout.

Noom

Noom is a subscription app, founded in 2008, built around behaviour change rather than meals. You log what you eat, read a short psychology-based lesson most days, and every food comes back sorted into green, yellow or orange by calorie density and nutritional value. There is a community, over 3,000 recipes, and an assistant called Welli whose meal planner suggests recipes from your dietary needs and preferences.

Above that sits Noom Premium, billed separately. It adds personalized in-app meal and exercise plans and, for eligible US users, a dedicated 1:1 coach with weekly contact. Noom does not publish what Premium costs; the figure appears only during sign-up, so I am not going to build an argument on a number I cannot read.

Noom publishes the rest of the ladder on its own support site. The two ends matter most: $70 for a single month and $209 for twelve, with the lengths in between running $129 to $179. A single month bought alone is the most expensive way to buy Noom, so $209 for the year is the number an honest comparison has to use, not $70 twelve times. It is about $17.42 per month when viewed across the year, although it is billed up front and auto-renews.

Four rows to us, three to Noom, two that are differences rather than verdicts. A table published by one of the two companies in it, awarding that company every row, is a table worth closing. I have marked only the rows I can defend with something you can check, and price is not one of them.

03

Where they differ most for women

What the colors do and do not do

Noom's system is better than the version most articles describe. It sorts foods by calorie density, then adjusts for nutritional value: whole grains drop a color, diet drinks sit at yellow despite the zero calories, alcohol moves up a color. On its own example list, eggs are green, and so is grilled chicken. The claim that it punishes protein stopped being true a while ago.

What the colors cannot do is tell you what to eat on Thursday. A color is a verdict passed after you already stood in the kitchen and chose. It is why women arrive at a meal plan after a year of logging: they know which meals were yellow and still open the fridge at seven with nothing decided.

Personalization, and what that word covers

Noom sets your calorie budget from your starting details, and that budget is genuinely yours. The lessons and the colors are the same for everyone, and personalized meal and exercise plans sit behind Premium. Noom is also clear that its coaches do not act as licensed nutrition or mental health professionals and cannot adjust your calorie budget.

That matters more than it sounds: the calorie number is the one thing most women want a second opinion on, and it is exactly what the person in the app cannot change. When Zeevi and colleagues, writing in Cell in 2015, watched 800 people eat identical meals under glucose monitoring, responses varied so widely that they concluded universal dietary advice has limited use.[1]

Cost, without the inflation

A year of Noom costs more than three of our four products and less than the fourth, and those two numbers buy different shapes of thing. $209 buys twelve months of app access. $534 buys four weeks of sustained personal coaching, and when the four weeks end, so does the coaching. If you want the food question answered and closed, $49 answers it and nothing renews.

A year of Noom is $209 and it stops the day the card stops. A plan you bought once is still in your inbox next January.

04

What the evidence really shows

Noom's own trial

The largest randomized trial of Noom is Noom's own. McCallum and colleagues, writing in Obesity Science & Practice in 2026, randomized 427 adults, 83% of them women, to Noom Weight or an educational control for 16 weeks, then followed them for another 52.[2] At the end the Noom group had lost an average of 1.2% of body weight and the control group had gained 0.6%. Starting at 80 kg (176 lb), 1.2% is under a kilo.

The more interesting number comes later. By 68 weeks the Noom group was down 4.1% and the control group had gained 1.5%, which reverses the usual pattern and is a real result. Two caveats sit beside it: the trial was designed and funded by Noom's own research team, and weight was self-reported through the app. Encouraging rather than settled.

Hartmann-Boyce and colleagues, in a 2014 Obesity Reviews systematic review and meta-regression, found that most multicomponent behavioural programs worked, and two features stood out: calorie counting was associated with 3.3 kg greater loss and dietitian contact with 1.5 kg greater loss.[3] Calorie counting is Noom's core mechanic, and I am not going to bury that.

What the nutrition side rests on

The protein argument has a women-only trial behind it. Leidy and colleagues, writing in Obesity in 2007, put 46 women on a matched 750 kcal deficit for 12 weeks, one group at 30% protein and one at 18%. Both lost weight; the higher-protein group kept more lean mass and felt more satisfied on the same deficit.[4] Small, short, and not a licence to claim protein solves everything.

What no program on either side of this page has solved is what happens afterwards. Hall and Kahan's 2018 review in Medical Clinics of North America is blunt: early loss, a plateau, then progressive regain is close to the default, and they put it down to biological, behavioural and environmental factors rather than a lapse in character.[5] Anyone selling a permanent answer for $49 or $209 is selling you something.

Worth Knowing

Most women who stall on Noom are not failing at behaviour change. Protein is often the missing piece, and hunger is easy to read as a discipline problem. Noom added protein tracking, and switching it on costs nothing if you already pay for the app. Do that before deciding the app does not work.

05

Who each one is for

Where Noom is the better purchase

Two situations, and I mean both. If what went wrong before was not the food but doing it alone in a quiet house, buy Noom. A lesson every morning, a coach to message and people at the same stage beat a better-written plan, and a document supplies none of them. And if you already log your food and enjoy it, $209 for a year is fair for logging plus coaching plus a curriculum, and cancelling is self-serve on Noom's own support pages.

A third case is flexibility. Noom lets you work inside a calorie and food-color framework while choosing food day by day. A meal plan is deliberately more prescriptive. Some women find that freeing. Others find it restrictive.

SlimFitNut
Best if the food is the part you are stuck on
You want to be told what to eat and how much, with the protein already worked out. You have logged before and found it exhausting. You would rather pay once and keep what you paid for.
Noom
Best if staying with it is the part you are stuck on
You want daily structure, a lesson to read and people to talk to. You are curious about why you eat the way you do. You are comfortable with a recurring charge and would rather adapt the food you already cook.

If the question is broader than these two products, two other pages answer it better: the online nutrition coaching comparison, for services built around months of contact, and the five-way comparison of personalized meal plan services, which includes the ones that send the food rather than the instructions.

Most women who write to me have tried the app version and know the food question is still open. Behaviour change is not soft and psychology is not a gimmick, but knowing why you reach for the biscuits at four says nothing about what belonged on your plate at one.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is SlimFitNut better than Noom for weight loss?

For a woman who wants to be told what to eat, yes. SlimFitNut gives you a meal plan built by a certified nutritionist around your goals, food preferences, allergies and body data, with the protein and calorie structure worked out. Noom gives you a calorie budget, a food color system and a lesson most days, then leaves the meals to you.

How much does Noom cost compared to SlimFitNut?

Noom lists $70 for one month, $169 for four, $179 for six and $209 for twelve, billed up front and renewing automatically. Noom Premium is a separately billed add-on whose price Noom does not publish. SlimFitNut is a one-time purchase: $49 for a 2-week plan, $83 for 4 weeks, $119 for Premium and $534 for VIP plus Coaching, listed in USD and shown in your own currency at checkout.

Does Noom work for women over 35?

It can, and plenty of women over 35 do well on it. What tends to change with age is lean mass and how much protein it takes to feel full. Noom's colors rank calorie density and nutritional value rather than protein, though the app does include protein tracking. A meal plan settles the protein in advance instead of scoring it afterwards. If you have a medical or hormonal concern, neither Noom coaching nor a standard meal plan should replace care from an appropriately licensed clinician.

Can you use both Noom and a meal plan together?

Yes, and some women do. The plan handles the food structure, the app handles the daily prompts and the community. Be honest about whether you will still open the app once you have a plan, because the subscription renews either way.
